Anker is a reputable company with almost a decade of experience under its belt, but it is better understood as a conglomerate at this point. Thankfully, the company is so effective that it managed to produce a number of different brands, including eufy, though this brand focuses on smart home products more broadly.

Thankfully, this focus does not impact the amount of noise the Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner generates as it cleans at a whisper-quiet 55 dB. It is worth noting that part of the reason this model is so quiet is based on its robotic vacuum design which has advantages and drawbacks.

Easily one of the best things about this kind of vacuum cleaner is that you do not have to do much more than choose a setting and let it go. Not only do you not have to manually control the Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner–though you could– but you do not even have to tell it when to recharge.

Unfortunately, this vacuum cleaner suffers the same issues that most robotic vacuum cleaners do in the performance department with lower suction power at only 1300 Pa. It also does not help that the Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner is an expensive model given its automatic functions.

However, those automatic functions perform exceptionally well as the BoostIQ technology allows this vacuum cleaner to transition from floor to carpet without issue and prevents it from falling. It also does not hurt that the Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner employs a 4-point cleaning system and a triple filter.

eufy by Anker, BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim), Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Super-Thin, 1300Pa Strong Suction, Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets

  • Cleans plenty before you have to change the bin with a ⅗ L capacity

  • Keeps the air clean with a triple filter

Verdict
The Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner is one of the better robotic vacuums on the market and generates a whisper-quiet 55 dB. While it is not ideal for those with thicker carpets, it is extremely well-programmed to avoid falls and comes with numerous modes for different situations.

Pros

  • Only produces 55 dB
  • Has a 3-point cleaning system
  • Has a longer runtime
  • Has hands-off operation

Cons

  • Is more expensive
  • Not the best suction

Jashen may not be one of the more respected and experienced companies on our list, but its history still extends over 2 decades. On top of that, this company specializes exclusively in vacuum cleaners and their accessories with a particular focus on those suitable for smaller spaces.

However, you should not look at the JASHEN V16 vacuum cleaner as a poorly performing model, though it is a bit louder than some of the competition at 70 dB. Granted, a big part of that comes down to the fact that this is also the most powerful option we reviewed, making it a great all-around.

For instance, the JASHEN V16 vacuum cleaner blows the rest of the competition out of the water when it comes to suction power at 20000 Pa. As if that were not enough, this vacuum cleaner also boasts a 5/1-point cleaning system, the second-best on our list, and a 4-stage HEPA filter.

To perform this well without being too loud, the JASHEN V16 vacuum cleaner comes with a brushless motor that is quieter as well as more durable. Though, it is worth noting that all of these features and the performance come at a fairly steep price tag, but you get what you pay for.

The only real value downside of the JASHEN V16 vacuum cleaner is its battery life which ranges between 15 to 45 minutes depending on the speed setting. Thankfully, this vacuum cleaner has the second-largest cleaning path on our list at 10”, so you will not have to spend as much time (or battery life) cleaning.

JASHEN V16 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner,Powerful Stick Vacuum with 26Kpa Suction Rechargable Battery for Up to 45 min Runtime,10 in 1 350W Handheld Vac Perfect for Carpet Hardwood Floor

Features

  • Is reasonably quiet, producing only 70 dB
  • Sucks up everything in its path with a 20000 Pa suction power
  • Cleans plenty before you have to change the bin with a ½ L capacity
  • Covers every spot with a 5/1-point cleaning system
  • Keeps the air clean with a 4-stage HEPA filter

Verdict
The JASHEN V16 vacuum cleaner is easily one of the best all-around performing options we encountered and still only makes 70 dB of noise. That said, the noise comes as a consequence of the strongest suction power we reviewed at 20000 Pa while also providing a 5/1-point cleaning system.

Pros

  • Only produces 70 dB
  • Has 20000 Pa suction
  • Has a 5/1-point cleaning system
  • Has a brushless motor

Cons

  • Is more expensive
  • Has a short runtime

Eureka is easily one of the more respected and experienced companies on our list with more than a century of experience under its belt. On top of that, this company also specializes exclusively in vacuum cleaners and their accessories with a particular focus on performance.

That said, the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed vacuum cleaner is one of the few entries on our list that is fairly loud, generating 85 dB. Of course, it is also worth noting that this is the only traditional upright vacuum cleaner we reviewed that also has the most powerful motor, drawing 960 W of power.

Oddly enough, the powerful motor is not able to generate the best suction power we encountered, though it is still god for second-best at 15000 Pa. When you combine that solid suction power with a 12 ⅗” path, you get one of the best-performing and fastest cleaning vacuum cleaners we found.

What is even more surprising is that the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed vacuum cleaner is also an extremely inexpensive model, especially given its performance. This value only increases when you realize that it provides the most robust and versatile cleaning system with 6/1 different points.

On the other hand, the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed vacuum cleaner is not the easiest to use because of this, nor is it the most maneuverable. However, with 5 different height settings and headlights, you do not have to worry about the type of floor in your home as this vacuum cleaner can handle them all.

eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner, Lite, Blue

Features

  • Is somewhat quiet, producing only 85 dB
  • Sucks up everything in its path with a 15000 Pa suction power
  • Cleans plenty before you have to change the bin with a 4.1 L capacity
  • Covers every spot with a 6/1-point cleaning system
  • Handles every kind of surface with 5 height settings

Verdict
The Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed vacuum cleaner may not be the quietest entry on our list, but it is easily one of the most versatile and powerful with 15000 Pa. For starters, the 6/1-point cleaning system is the most robust we reviewed while the 5 different height settings allow you to use this vacuum cleaner on any indoor surface.

Pros

  • Has a 4.1 L capacity
  • Has a 6/1-point cleaning system
  • Has 15000 Pa suction
  • Is less expensive

Cons

  • Not the quietest
  • Not the easiest to use

Runner Up: Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Handy and Extendable, Lightweight Quiet Powerful Suction 160W, Rechargeable Stick Handheld Vac, 2 Speed Modes for Pet Hair Hardwood Floors Carpet – INSE N6

INSE Cordless Vacuum, 12KPa Powerful Vacuum Cleaner with 160W Motor, 4-in-1 Stick Vacuum, Rechargeable Handheld Vacuum Cleaner for Home Hard Floor Carpet Pet Hair-N6
  • 5 Stages Full Sealed Filtration System: Fully sealed filtration system separates clean air and dust efficiently without leakage, Plus...

  • Detachable Long-lasting: quick charge and long run time; cordless vacuum cleaner have 2 speed modes(Standard Mode: 45 mins; MAX Mode: 15...

While INSE may be one least recognized and experienced companies on our list, it has still been around for about half a decade. On top of that, this company specializes exclusively in vacuum cleaners and their accessories with a balanced approach that works extremely well for our list.

Out of all the standard types of vacuum cleaners we reviewed, the INSE N6 is the quietest of the bunch, generating only 65 dB of noise. What is more impressive is that this vacuum cleaner still performs reasonably well despite the fact that it has one of the weaker motors we encountered at only 160 W.

Thankfully, the inclusion of a cyclonic design does not increase the noise too much as the INSE N6 vacuum cleaner while still producing a solid suction power of 12000 Pa. While not one of the least expensive options on the market, this vacuum cleaner is still reasonably priced given its functions.

However, that value comes at a cost as the weaker motor may not lack for suction power, but it is not the most durable that we saw either. Still, the INSE N6 vacuum cleaner comes with plenty of exceptional features like a 4-stage HEPA filter and a 4/1-point cleaning system for solid versatility.

It is also worth remembering that the INSE N6 vacuum cleaner is a cordless stick type with plenty of advantages– though not the best runtime. For instance, this is the second cordless stick vacuum cleaner we encountered, making it extremely maneuverable weighing only 4 ½ lbs.

INSE Cordless Vacuum, 12KPa Powerful Vacuum Cleaner with 160W Motor, 4-in-1 Stick Vacuum, Rechargeable Handheld Vacuum Cleaner for Home Hard Floor Carpet Pet Hair-N6

Features

  • Is exceptionally quiet, producing only 65 dB
  • Sucks up everything in its path with a 12000 Pa suction power
  • Cleans plenty before you have to change the bin with a ½ L capacity
  • Covers every spot with a 4/1-point cleaning system
  • Keeps the air clean with a 4-stage HEPA filter

Verdict
The INSE N6 vacuum cleaner may not be the best-performing model on our list, but it is the quietest of the “standard” forms at only 65 dB. On top of that, it is not a poorly performing vacuum cleaner, generating 12000 Pa of suction power and coming with both a 4/1-point cleaning system and a 4-stage HEPA filter.

Pros

  • Only produces 65 dB
  • Has 12000 Pa suction
  • Has a 4/1-point cleaning system
  • Is less expensive

Cons

  • Has a short runtime
  • Not the most durable

  • Every BISSELL purchase helps save pets. BISSELL proudly supports BISSELL Pet Foundation and its mission to help save homeless pets.
  • Perfect for quick, quiet cleanups of everyday messes like crumbs, pet hair, cereal, dirt, and more
  • Safe and effective multi-surface cleaning on carpets, rugs, and hard floors

Out of all the companies on our list, none of them are as experienced or reputable as Bissell with a history that stretches back over 140 years. While Bissell may not specialize exclusively in vacuum cleaners and their accessories, they do stay within the purview of floor cleaning products.

The Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A may be a bit of a cheater for our list since it is not a true vacuum cleaner, but it is easily the quietest model that we found. Given that this “vacuum cleaner” does not have a motor, it should come as no surprise that it also does not generate any noise beyond the sound of the wheels and brushes.

Of course, this also means that the Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A does not have any suction power either which can make it a bit difficult when pulling up heavier or trickier messes. It also does not help this “vacuum cleaner” on the carpet, though it is more than capable of cleaning surface-level messes on the carpet.

One of the more surprising aspects of the Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A is that it still comes with a 4-point cleaning system which makes it great at getting into corners. Oddly enough, this sweeper vacuum’s wand does not rotate, so it is less maneuverable than some of the other options on our list despite only weighing 3 ⅓ lbs.

While the Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A may be fairly compact, it can still hold a surprising amount of debris with a ½ L canister which is good for second-biggest on our list. As if that were not enough, the absence of a motor and other mechanical parts makes this one of the easiest models to assemble and use.

Bissell Natural Sweep Carpet and Floor Sweeper with Dual Rotating System and 2 Corner Edge Brushes, 92N0A, Silver

Features

  • Is the quietest model on list, producing no noise
  • Environmentally friendly and made out of 100% recycled materials
  • Cleans plenty before you have to change the bin with a ½ L capacity
  • Covers every spot with a 4-point cleaning system
  • One of the easiest models to assemble and use

Verdict
The Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A manual “vacuum cleaner” is easily the quietest entry on our list, but it is also not a true vacuum cleaner. While this is a great option for spot cleaning, especially on hard surfaces, its lack of motor means it does not have any suction power, though it is otherwise competitive with other types of vacuum cleaners.

Pros

  • Does not generate noise
  • Has a 4-point cleaning system
  • Is easy to use
  • Is less expensive

Cons

  • Not the best cleaning
  • Not the most maneuverable

Best Quiet Vacuum Cleaner Buying Guide

Volume

Based on our topic, this is by far one of the more important factors, but you usually have to pick your poison when choosing a quiet vacuum cleaner. Most vacuum cleaners that perform well also generate more noise than their quieter competitors– though there are some design choices that influence this.

Keep in mind, the suction power a vacuum cleaner provides may not always depend on the size of the motor, but the amount of noise generated almost always will. Other aspects like the wind tunnel effects with more advanced designs can also increase the noise generated but also improve performance.

Type

  • Upright – This is the “traditional” type of vacuum cleaner that is large and bulky, but it is also often the best-performing type. Beyond the larger motors and increased suction power this type tends to offer, they are also usually some of the most versatile with more cleaning options than others– though they are also often the loudest.
  • Stick – Stick vacuum cleaners are similar to upright models except they eschew much of the bulk in favor of a sleek, lightweight design. This often requires stick vacuum cleaners to employ a cordless design which makes them more maneuverable but places a cap on their runtime before needing to recharge. Given their smaller profile, stick vacuum cleaners are also quieter than most without necessarily sacrificing suction power.
  • Sweep – Sweeps are not truly a vacuum cleaner in that they do not include a motor and provide no suction power to assist with cleaning. That makes them poorly performing compared to other types of vacuum cleaners and best reserved for spot cleaning. However, the lack of a motor also means that this type of “vacuum cleaner” does not generate anywhere near as much noise.
  • Robot – This is the newest type of vacuum cleaner that favors convenience over everything else but still finds a solid spot on our list. Robotic vacuum cleaners have the advantage of automatic functions, often with multiple modes for different types of cleaning. However, their small size limits the amount of suction power they can generate as well as their versatility, but they are some of the quietest true vacuum cleaners out there.

Suction

When considering vacuum cleaners without any other caveat, suction power has to be at the top of the list of priorities as it ultimately determines how effective the model will be at cleaning. While there are a number of factors that influence a vacuum cleaner’s suction power, the spec can be gauged by its rating in Pascals (Pa).

The motor plays arguably the most important role in determining the suction power of a vacuum cleaner with more powerful motors generating more suction power. However, the design of the vacuum cleaner’s canister can also improve its suction power if it generates a wind tunnel, cyclonic effect.

Capacity

The capacity of a vacuum cleaner refers to the amount of debris it can hold before losing suction power or need to be emptied and is measured in liters (L). Capacity is a reasonable concern, but it should not be considered one of the most important aspects when choosing a vacuum cleaner.

More than anything else, the capacity of a vacuum cleaner should be considered a convenience issue with many places not even requiring a large capacity. If you have a smaller space or keep it relatively clean between vacuuming, you likely do not need to worry about a large canister capacity.

Path

The path or cleaning path of a vacuum cleaner refers to the width of space that the vacuum cleaner covers in a single pass. This aspect is more or less important depending on the size of space you vacuum and how quickly you want to get done with the chore with larger paths working quicker.

More often than not, modern vacuum cleaners make a cleaning path that is less than a foot across to accommodate the more compact profiles generally preferred. However, larger, more powerful vacuum cleaners may come with a cleaning path that exceeds a foot in width to drastically reduce the amount of time it takes to vacuum a large space.

Cleaning System

The cleaning system of a vacuum cleaner refers to how many different tools or points of the product assist in cleaning. Keep in mind, the point system of a vacuum cleaner includes accessories that attach to the hose or wand, so the number does not necessarily represent the applicable cleaning system.

That said, most vacuum cleaners come with at least a 3 to 4-point cleaning system at their base with many models also including various accessories to clean surfaces other than the floor. If you see a #/1-point cleaning system, the 1 following the number represents an extension wand that allows you to clean areas the hose cannot reach.

Filtration

While vacuum cleaners are designed to clean messes, their design may also actually contribute to them– especially when it comes to kicking up dust in the air. Because vacuum cleaners focus on air pressure, they cannot afford to be airtight without risking potential damage to the interior components.

However, the cracks and openings in the vacuum cleaner’s internal pathways allow dust to escape and either irritate you or fall back to the ground. Many vacuum cleaners address this issue by including a filtration system that removes the smallest particles of dust that might otherwise make their way back out of the vacuum cleaner and onto you or the floor.

FAQ’s

What Makes a Vacuum Cleaner Quiet?

Like with most motorized items, finding the balance between the amount of noise generated and the performance of the product can be a bit tricky. Basically, the better performing a vacuum, generally the more noise it generates, though there are a couple of design features that can impact this as well.

One of the more noteworthy designs that can increase the amount of noise generated is a cyclonic dust canister, though it also has the added advantage of drastically improving the performance of the vacuum. Still, there is no getting around the fact that the air currents whipping around the dust canister increase the noise generated.

Another thing to consider is the motor which where the overwhelming majority of vacuum noise generation originates from. That said, not only do you have to consider how powerful the motor is, with more powerful and effective motors generating more noise, but you also need to consider what type of motor the vacuum uses, with brushless motors being quieter than brushed motors.

Which is the Right Type for You?

Regardless of the amount of noise generated, you also need to consider which type of vacuum you should use which depends far more on just the amount of noise it generates. While we covered the different types prior, there are a couple of different things to consider when selecting the right type for you.

If the volume is the most important factor, then the manual sweeper vacuum is likely your best option as its lack of a motor keeps the amount of noise generated to a minimum. After the sweeper vacuum, the robotic vacuum is the next quietest, but your main reason for choosing this type is likely due to a lack of time to actually vacuum.

Of the two more traditional types of vacuums, you are sacrificing quietness to get additional suction power with the corded model generally performing better. That said, a fully-charged cordless vacuum can perform just well if not better, at first, and is also significantly easier to move around.

What to Look For?

Beyond looking for a quiet vacuum, arguably the most important quality is its suction power as this will ultimately determine how well it performs. Of course, there are a couple of different factors that go into determining the suction power, but this is still the primary spec that aggregates all of the design choices’ effectiveness.

After the suction power, the cleaning path is another quality you should consider as this will ultimately determine how long it takes to clean your home with larger paths reducing the amount of cleaning time. Secondary to this is the type of filtration a vacuum provides, though that can be a higher priority if you are allergic or otherwise sensitive to dust.

Depending on what you intend to use the vacuum for, it might also be a good idea to check out the cleaning system. A vacuum with additional brushes may be less convenient but greatly increases the vacuum’s versatility while a cornucopia of different attachments allows you to clean surfaces the base cannot reach.

Conclusion

In the end, the best quiet vacuum cleaner will likely depend on how much you want to avoid noise, the surfaces of your home, and the amount of power you require. If you want a vacuum cleaner that is both exceptionally quiet and performs better than most, the INSE N6 is a solid option.

Of course, if the volume is a paramount concern and you do not have any tall piled carpet, Anker eufy RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner is the quietest true vacuum on our list. Now, for the quietest option without considering the performance, the Bissell Natural Sweep 92N0A does not generate any noise, but it is not a true vacuum cleaner either.

On the other hand, if you need a vacuum cleaner with great performance that is also reasonably quiet, the JASHEN V16 is the best all-around option. Of course, if you are less concerned with volume and want something that performs well for a wide range of different cleaning purposes, the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed vacuum cleaner is ideal.
